I’ve been seeking lasting, inner peace most my life…What about you?

Research tells us that people who live in inner peace are healthier and happier.

So, let’s take a closer look at what inner peace really is, what it isn’t and why it even matters.  True, inner peace is a deep sense of well-being, state of mental & spiritual calm, where one lives in harmony with themselves, others and the world.  It isn’t a state of passivity, and certainly not a place of dullness or boredom.  On the other hand, the opposite of inner peace is a state of stress, anxiety and inner resistance.  So, do you ever feel: anxious, insecure, fearful, overwhelmed, or drained?  Do you sometimes say, you just want peace?  Let’s now look at what causes inner stress and anxiety.  It’s actually not wanting what is.  The mind creates a problem with life situations that are just normal situations.  The mind’s inner voice talks about what’s not ok inside and sometimes seems to never shut up.  We tend to think the chatter inside us will somehow make us feel better in an uncertain world, but it doesn’t.

Did you know peace comes from making changes inside?

We sometimes think a new year’s resolution will give us a fresh start to feel better about ourselves, but it rarely does.  Some of the common solutions we seek are to: find love, make more money, kick a habit, maybe get fit, be healthier, or happier.  Do any of these resonate with you?  If so, how is it going so far?  At the end of the day, we really just want inner peace.  Even when we achieve these goals we still don’t have lasting, inner peace.  There’s always another goal; It seems like it’s never good enough, right where we are today.  We’re always, chasing the next best thing.  Never satisfied.  Yet, all we really want is peace.  What about you?  Did you know that the answer to all your problems and their solutions are inside you?  Yes, they’re actually inside.  That means, if we want to experience lasting peace, we can stop wasting our time and energy chasing things on the outside to experience peace on the inside.  That’s really good news because that means our inner peace isn’t dependent on someone or something outside us.

So, if you’re game…let’s start by taking a look inside.

Did you know there’s a second person inside you, much like a roommate?  It’s the ego self.  That second person is where the problem begins and ends.  The ego self in there is creating all the trouble and it can’t even help itself.  That’s the way it gets fuel to survive.  On the contrary, you can help you, by saying no and reclaiming your authority!  You actually have the willpower inside to find and free yourself from the inner pain it creates.  All you have to do is dis-identify and detach from it, i.e. with inner growth.

The easiest way to overcome the ego self is to build healthy boundaries around it so you can stay in the driver’s seat of your own life.

This is how it works.  You can break free from the suffering that originates in the mind by using greater self-awareness and boundaries.  This will free you to reclaim your true identity and authority over the ego self, that voice in your head.  You can break free from yourself by saying no to the inner voice, i.e., say no to that inner dialog that just doesn’t want to shut up.  When it shows up, just don’t go along.  Don’t resist it…instead, watch it.  It’s just a “thing”, a form of energy that comes and goes.  It’s not you.  You’re actually the one who’s experiencing the voice.  You’re the one in the background watching it.  The mind is just a resource gifted to you that’s taken over.  It’s a wonderful gift, but too often we overuse it and end up getting lost in it.  Remember, it’s not you.  You’re just incredibly distracted by it, so much so that you don’t recognize who you are.

Instead of going along with the voice, do something different.

You can experience inner peace by creating distance that will protect you from your ego self and unnecessary suffering.  That way, it won’t have the freedom to take over your life and wreck your peace.  Try taking a seat in your being…your true higher self, by observing the voice in the inner dialog and practice letting go.  It’s just resistance you’re experiencing, because you’re not ok inside.  Know that the voice is not going to fix you or what’s bothering you either; However, working through it will.  You might “think” you’ll feel better when you listen to the chatter about a situation you don’t like, but in essence, you’re really just adding more resistance to your stored pain.  This resistance accumulates trapped negativity inside and creates further suffering.

Don’t waste precious energy by following these intruding thoughts.

You don’t have to go along.  It’s just a habit.  So, don’t listen, add to, cling, get pulled in, join or fall for it anymore.  Remember, it’s the source of all your problems.  Step out of the narration, the resistance of whatever life situation you’re facing and get in the driver’s seat of your life.  Stop living through life situations as a passenger or a victim.

Take back your life by reclaiming what is rightfully yours.

Re-train your mind to: unplug, not get involved with the noise, stop believing it or taking it too seriously.  Focus on “being” who you really are, i.e., the spiritual aliveness inside your body.  Anchor yourself there so you can turn off that inner bully once and for all.  You can, you know.  First, you must be willing to feel it to begin to heal.

So, take authority and experience it by learning to relax, release resistance, to rise above life’s challenges.

Yes, it’s a journey that takes commitment, but there’s no better time than now.  It’s a new year and a new day.  Give yourself a break….& break free from your inner voice and it’s disturbances that separate you from inner peace.  It’s the best gift you’ll ever give yourself and the world.  Tell me how I can help you on your journey today…toward inner peace.  It would be my honor.
