Did you know that we need healthy boundaries to protect ourselves from ourselves?
That’s right. The most important boundaries you will ever have are the boundaries you have with yourself. Yes, we’re actually getting in our own way. A mind without healthy boundaries, is a mind out-of-control. We end up creating the pain that brings about an insatiable desire for external things outside ourselves. Then we numb or comfort ourselves from the lack we feel inside, with such things as alcohol, people, food & drugs that only lead to more dependency. This takes us right back to the very thing we’re trying to avoid. Pain. It starts with pain and ends with pain. Do you cling to things outside yourself to satisfy you? Do you know the cost of your hungry, conditioned & the spoiled egoic mind that’s never been trained to rest or quiet itself?
Today, we are so caught up in the race of: doing, having & wanting the next best thing…in order to relieve the “lack of not enough” deep inside our lives that we miss the true fulfillment that’s available here and now.
This empty way of life often ends up destroying the very thing that means the most. We’ve never been so prosperous, yet so unhealthy & so unhappy. We’re living in a time of unprecedented levels of opportunities, education & wealth, and yet we’re also are living in a time of unprecedented levels of dependence on: alcohol, antidepressants, antianxiety medicine & obesity.
A recent study showed, according to journal Psychiatric Services, that more Americans than ever before are stressed, depressed & anxiety ridden. That’s exactly why….my message about breaking free from the pain & dependency we create in ourselves is so critical today more than ever before. A change is vital to our health, future & families. Our egoic mind’s false beliefs, false thoughts, & false identity, too often run and ruin our lives.
We pay a high price for living this way…
Dependency destroys lives. It’s a disease. Because the egoic mind is so hungry & in charge, it clings to external things for the highs that seem to satisfy that lack. Yet, it’s just a series of highs that will never last. It only leads to more dependency, destruction & despair; ultimately, robbing us of all our hopes, dreams, relationships, home, health, & future. That’s why we need to be in charge of ourselves, with healthy boundaries, to make the choices & changes needed to live our best life.
So, what about you? Are you protecting you from you? Do you have healthy boundaries with your mind, emotions, and behavior or are they causing you pain?
Remember, these areas of your life are resources to be used as needed. They’re not supposed to be in charge. They’re supposed to be serving you, not you serving them. So, the next time you’re challenged to create a problem out of a normal life situation, observe what you’re thinking, feeling, & needing. Recognize that the situation isn’t a threat. Allow it to be, as it is, even if you may not like it or agree with it. It’s the resistance that creates the pain. Let the feeling of resistance pass through you. Feel the inner peace as it passes…and keep practicing. The more you practice, the more inner peace you will have in your life and the greater fulfillment you will experience.
